Description

A suite in three movements, with baroque and jazz music inspiration. The first movement, which is a fugue, follows the typical fugal alternation between subject statements, countersubjects, and episodes. The second movement, written in theme and variations form, partially uses a ground bass that is reminiscent of the baroque period. The third movement is a jazz waltz that is also written in theme and variations form. Here, the rhythm has the relentless drive, mechanical quality that is typical of baroque and jazz.
