Description

The three sections of this piece need sensitive playing from the player, as each section highlights a different aspect of the oboe’s character. The Prelude is serious and brooding in a minor key. The interlude is lighter, with beautiful flowing melody, often in canon with the right hand of the piano part. The Dance is lighthearted and entertaining, with almost the character of a folk dance.   The piece was composed with an intermediate oboist in mind. The oboe part is very lyrical throughout the piece, and will require good breath control to ensure that the piece ‘sings’.
