Three Pieces for Brass Quartet
£9.00 – £12.00
Description
These three pieces were first performed by the Birmingham Brass Ensemble under Timothy Reynish. The first features noble melodies over held chords, until the final section breaks into a series of polyphonic entries of the theme over a tuba pedal note. The second piece is contrapuntal from the start, and uses the differing textures of muted and unmuted brass instruments to create atmosphere. The final piece makes use of repeated, driving figures accompanying an epic theme first introduced in the French Horn.
