The Teddy Bear’s Toccata

Description
The first time we performed this my students were sworn to secrecy having billed it simply as Toccata. They really enjoyed their anticipation and the impressed hum of approval during the meticulous Bach and were rewarded by a massed laugh as we segued into the Picnic. Comparatively easy to play it is an all round fun piece to work on, not too tricky but worth in-depth rehearsal – particularly in requiring a delicate, neat, controlled touch. The special section for a full ‘heavy mob’ is quite demanding, and entertaining for the tacet players!
