Description
This four-movement suite was completed in 2016. Flourish, the first movement, is a fanfare opening with a mixture of noble triadic writing and imitation. Cortege is a slow and restrained processional movement in a minor mode, mixing homophonic chording with some imitative passages. Solitude, as the title suggests, is a gentle and reflective movement where the dynamics do not rise above mp. The final movement, Skipping the Beat, is an upbeat, positive conclusion in a lilting 6/8 time.
