Description

This three movement sonata is described by the composer as follows

1st Movement – I see it as a declaration of intent to be free spirited and should be played boldly.

2nd Movement. – Much more introverted, thoughtful and even wistful but never with any self-doubt. The piano part is quite sombre as a contrast to the overall forward looking nature of the movement.

3rd Movement. – Sparky and upbeat leading to the faster section as a kind of release of emotion. The syncopated piano tries to restrain this emotion but the faster theme repeats and is more assertive.
