Description
This set of variations was written for the Moody Flutes, a flute choir based in Toledo, Ohio. Utilizing the Advent Chant Conditor Alme Siderum (Creator of the Stars of Night), the work crafts the tune against a series of varying backgrounds and metrical transformations. It is scored for piccolo, four concert flutes, alto flute, and bass flute, and each part plays a key role of in the presentation of the succeeding variations. The playing level is moderately difficult and features a gradual built toward a driven pulsing climatic ending.
