A Celtic Suite

Description

The four arrangements that comprise this suite were written for the Maumee Valley Country Day School Upper School String Ensemble. The four use very familiar Celtic folk melodies as their basis, though each tries to capture the music nature of the lyrics behind the tune. The level of the pieces runs from moderate to advanced. A concerted effort has been made to ensure that the nature of each of the five parts (Violin 1, Violin 2, Viola, Violoncello, and Contrabass) plays a key element in the texture of the work music, and all have sufficient musical interest and challenge to ensure all players have an enjoyable playing experience. All four arrangements have been read and edited and bowed by professional string players to ensure they are appropriate for the pedagogical level intended.
