Description
Composed between 1987 and 1842, this is the overture to an opera composed by Mikhail Glinka. It premiered at a time when Italian opera was a growing craze in Russia, and so received a luke warm response at the time. The overture however has become a firm favourite over the years, and is arranged by Nigel Street here for a saxophone octet with an optional sopranino part.
