Description
This music evokes the atmosphere of the area with large areas of hilly moorland. It can look dark and desolate and yet bright and beautiful, like many large Pennine areas. It is scored for double string orchestra but need only have one player per part if necessary. (An optional cello part to cover Contrabass 1 is also included). It can be played with full double strings also and has a powerful effect either way. The opening motif is shared and developed throughout until the poignant ending.
