Description

A Musician’s Golden Wedding at Woolstone is the title of a delightful poem by a friend, Martin Trowell, which sets the pastoral scene for this event in the Vale of the White Horse: the visitors arriving, the hot sunshine, the birdsong, the nostalgic speech, the sounds of laughter and the buzzing of bees, with “champagne blossom in the trees”. This induced the reason to write the piece for Martin’s flautist wife, Alison, to play. The first performance was given by Kate Hill on the 11th of August at the Oxford Flute Summer School in Worcester College.
