An arrangement of one of Gustav Holst’s earlier works, originally for eight part women’s voices. Lush harmonies and simple flowing lines build to create a beautifully elegant sound world. The statement and answer sections mean that this piece works well antiphonally with the two quartets separated, but is just as good as a large choir piece. The relatively straightforward lines and simpler instrumentation make this an ideal concert piece. Oboe 1 goes up to top D so maybe grade 3/4 standard. Other parts are lower.
