Overture for a Festival
£37.50 – £50.00
Description
This piece is a bright, lively opening number for a concert (or maybe an upbeat encore). It was written for the Ridgewood High School Windband, and performed by them with great success on tours to France, Belgium, Denmark, Germany and Italy. They also performed it to much acclaim as the guest band of the 1995 St Louis Marching Band Festival while on tour in the USA. The opening fanfare leads into a rhythmic ‘Vivace’, with opportunities for many different sections of the band to take the lead. After a mysterious linking section, the fanfare returns as a more lyrical idea in the contrasting middle sections of the piece, and there is a rousing coda in which it makes a final, triumphant appearance.
