Fanfare to the Water
£15.00 – £20.00
Description
This Octet visualises the many aspects of water including the sea’s oily swells, the play of wind on the waves of a lake and eventually a wide river running to the sea. The four-note Fanfare motif is interwoven with the melody ‘The Water is Wide’, a folk song of Scottish origin which has remained popular for centuries and the piece mirrors the ancient lyrics which tell of the challenges and progression of love through yearning and growth, then to falsehood and betrayal until it finally fades away “like morning dew”.
